Visual Effects
In this tab you can control which visual settings are applied to video, such as brightness and contrast, and even
use visual effects from the open FreeFrame FX framework.
Changing Visual Settings
All the Visual settings can be defined and/or changed inside the Visual Effects tab shown below:
The following settings can be defined on this area:
Deinterlace
Performs deinterlacing of the source video. Can be set to the following string values:
- Off: no deinterlacing is performed.
- Even Field: deinterlacing is performed in even-numbered fields.
- Odd Field: deinterlacing is performed in odd-numbered fields.
- Auto: deinterlacing is performed automatically if the input frame size is 720x480-486 or 720x576-584.
Noise Reduction
Applies a filter transformation that lowers the noise in video frames, allowing for better compression at the cost of slightly blurred image.
Brightness
Changes the brightness value of the video frames being encoded. Negative values will produce darker frames, positive values will produce brighter frames.
Contrast
Increases or decreases the contrast of the video frames being encoded. Negative values will decrease original image contrast, positive values will increase it.
WhiteRestore
A luminosity threshold level which causes affected pixels to be set to white. As you set the value higher more pixels become white.
BlackRestore
A luminosity threshold level which causes affected pixels to be set to black. As you set the value higher more pixels become black.
Gamma
Sets the amount of gamma level or correction to the source video frames. An integer from -100% (gamma=0.2) to +100% (gamma=5.0).
Crop Area & AR
The coordinates of a crop rectangle in the source video and the Aspect Ratio. Please see the Cropping Video Section for more details.
Visual FX
Select an effect from the available FreeFrame video effects - FreeFrame ( http://www.freeframe.org ) is an open source plugin interface and framework that allows applications that implement it to have access to any FreeFrame video FX. FreeFrame plugins are located inside the plugins/ directory, inside the TVE installation directory.
