Abstract:

Introduction

When trying to set the user account in Web Video Machine Dashboard, it returns the following error message:

Error setting Windows Service account.
Please make sure your username and password are correct and that the user has been granted permissions to log on as a service in the Windows Local Security Settings.

Solution

If the username and password are correct then you need to grant permission for the user account to log on as a service in the Windows Local Security Settings.

If the right to log on as a service is revoked for the specified user account, restore that right on either a domain controller or a stand-alone member server, as appropriate to your circumstances.

Member Server

If the user is a member of a stand-alone member server, follow these steps:

Start the Local Security Settings MMC snap-in found under Administrative Tools, in the control panel.
Expand Local Policies, and then click User Rights Assignment.
In the right pane, right-click Log on as a service, and then click Add User or Group.
In the User and Group Names box, type the username that you want to add to the policy, and then click OK.
Quit the Local Security Settings MMC snap-in.

Information
	TVE SDK is a SDK containing several programming components intended to be used by programmers developing a web site or desktop application for encoding video to Flash. Typically, the SDK when used in a web site, converts the video on server side: User uploads any video format to website. TVE SDK installed in the website performs video conversion to Flash video. On the other hand, TVU is a finished desktop application that enables website users to convert their video to Flash, but this conversion takes place on the user’s computer. After it is converted, it may uploaded to the website: User downloads TVU from site and installs it into his PC. User drags and drops a video to TVU. TVU converts the video to Flash video and uploads the result to website.

Solution
	To insert a chart into an existing PowerPoint presentation follow these steps: Open the presentation with PowerPoint where you want to insert the chart. Open RCB and generate the chart. From RCB, choose "Publish to PowerPoint". Enter any filename (it will not be used because it will use the current presentation). Notice that a new slide was added to the presentation containing the RCB chart. Save the changes in PowerPoint. You can repeat the above steps to insert any number of charts into a single PowerPoint presentation.

Abstract:

Symptoms

When trying to open a video by using any of the Turbine Video products (TVE SDK, TVE or TVU), it refuses to open by giving an error message or it encodes the video but the encoding is not successful.

Cause

This happens because there might be missing a codec, or the codec is installed but it is missconfigured.

Solution

Codecs can be a problem as different systems have different codecs installed with different versions and therefore it is almost impossible to provide a sound solution.

However, most videos can encoded by installing the missing codec. Start by installing the recommended software listed in this KB article:

Next, follow these simple steps to enable the proper codec:

Open the problematic video with GSpot - a free software tool which can be downloaded from http://www.headbands.com/gspot/.
GSpot will find what type of video and audio codec the problematic video is using.
Open "ffdshow video decoder configuration" - a configuration panel installed with Combined Community Codec Pack. Select "Codecs" and a list of all available codecs will show.

	Do TVE and TVE SDK support FLV video files as input? The answer is yes, if you install the right software.

Solution
	To be able to use FLV files as input video, and therefore re-encode it to FLV, you must install the right codecs. Start by installing the software recommended in this KB article: http://www.blue-pacific.com/support/kb/article.aspx?id=10413&cNode=3Q1G2S After installing, open the ffdshow "video decoder configuration". Enable "H.263", "FLV1", "VP6" and "VP6F" under "Codecs" - set these options to "libavcodec". Ability to print a page range from the converted documents. The range may be specified either as a single page such as "5" or as a page range such as "2-5".
Document API event fired when user prints a document. Document API introduces a new event named onPrinted which is fired when user makes an attempt to print the document. Useful to provide a way to determine how many times the document has been printed.
Support for proper unloading of documents if they are loaded into other Flash movies. It now frees all resources used by the document.
Optimization for documents with complex structure. This should result in smaller size of Flash documents and greater performance of the Flash document viewer. Cause

Turbine Video Encoder requires Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to be installed in order to be able to publish to PowerPoint. TVE couldn't detect VBA and therefore it won't be able to publish the video to Powerpoint.

Solution

This problem can be solved by installing VBA which is an optional component included in Microsoft Office. To install VBA:

	Deploying TVE SDK to a .NET website is as simple as following these simple steps: Locate the Turbine.TVE4.dll file located in your TVE SDK root installation directory. Copy this file to your website bin directory. Usually this directory already exists and is located at the root of your website. If you can't locate it then you can create it, or ask your hosting provider where it is. If you wish to use MP3 audio, then you must also upload lame_enc.dll to the same bin directory. 	As a rule of thumb, if one can play a video by using either Windows Media Player or QuickTime Player, then TVE, TVU and the SDK can also handle it. If it doesn't play, you may be missing a codec. 	You don't have the latest Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer installed.

Solution
	This problem can be solved by navigating to the following URL, with Internet Explorer, and following the instructions to install the Flash Player: http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/ Very Important: the above URL must be visited with MS Internet Explorer and not any other browser, to ensure the Flash Player ActiveX is installed which the software needs to run. 	Although it appears to be blank, the slide contains the video - PowerPoint is just not showing it in "Normal View". PowerPoint only generates a visible representation for the video after the first time the slide show plays. Symptoms
	After installing the registered version of Turbine Video Engine SDK (TVE SDK), the evaluation watermark still appears.

Solution
	Please review the following items, whose absence can be causing the problem: Make sure you installed the Registered setup and not the Evaluation setup. The filename for the Registered setup version will include the word 'Registered'. Check whether the TVE SDK DLL file is the registered version: in Windows Explorer right-click on the Turbine.TVE4.dll or TVE4COM.dll file, then select Properties, then select the Version Tab - the word Registered should appear on the Description field. Do a system wide search for these DLLs if in doubt. Make sure to fully restart the web server. When using Microsoft IIS, this might require a restart of the W3SVC service or a machine reboot. After these steps are correctly reviewed/performed, TVE SDK should be running in its full registered version.

	When loading images from network paths, such as \\share\images\img.jpg, Turbine generates the following error: [e] In - out.swf - Text Field (frame 2) on frame 0: Error loading image '/share/images/img.jpg' at line 1

Cause
	Turbine does not recognize network paths as valid path format.

Workaround
	Map the network path to a virtual drive.

	Turbine 7 includes two different dlls for two different .NET versions.

Information
	This KB article shows how to deploy Turbine 7 .NET interface for both .NET version 1.1 and 2.0. Deploying Turbine 7 to a .NET website is as simple as following these simple steps: Deploying for .NET 1.1 Locate the bin directory located in your Turbine 7 root installation directory. Copy the contents of this directory to your website bin directory. Deploying for .NET 2.0 Locate the bin_dotnet_20 directory located in your Turbine 7 root installation directory. Copy the contents of this directory to your website bin directory. After you copy the extra dlls to your bin directory, if you still get an error message, then you need to install VC++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package. Consult the Microsoft website for further information about installing a .NET component by using the XCopy method

Playing Videos from a Different Path

Abstract:

Introduction

Turbine Video Encoder saves the encoded videos as several files: .html, .swf, .flv and .jpg files, which are saved in the same folder. It is sometimes useful to have the .swf and .flv files in a different folder - for example into a separate media/ folder, different than the folder where the .html file will be located.
This article applies in a similar way to playing video files generated by Turbine Video Engine SDK.

Solution

For this to happen we must change a few attributes inside the <Object> and <Embed> tags that display the video in the .html file. This also applies to any other HTML file, for example dynamic HTML generated from ASP or PHP.

To do this we'll need to edit the HTML file as in the following steps, which assume the video is called video.swf (that is: originally saved as video.flv, video.html, etc.) and will be located in a folder named media:

Move all files, except the .html file into the new location inside the media/ folder.
Edit the .html file: inside the <Object> tag which displays the Flash player, locate the movie attribute of the <param> tag:
<param name="movie" value="video.swf">
And change it to the new path:
<param name="movie" value="media/video.swf">
After this tag, add a base <param> attribute which sets the base directory for the loaded media - take care to leave the final slash as in "media/":

Symptoms
	Running a .NET application with TVE SDK you get the following error message: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1) Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Cause
	Your system lacks a required Microsoft dll. After installing this dll the problem should be solved.

Solution
	TVE SDK requires VC++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package which can be freely downloaded from Microsoft website: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647 After installing it, TVE SDK should now run without any kind of problem.

Extract Audio from a Video to MP3

Introduction
	TVE SDK allows extraction of audio from a video to MP3 format.

Solution
	By using the new "raw" transport it is very simple to autput MP3. Do as follows: Set the transport to raw by setting the OutputFormat property to "raw". Set the audio encoder to MP3 by setting the AudioEncoder property to "MP3". Set the video encoder to none by setting the VideoEncoder property to "none". The SDK includes a ready to use example on how to output MP3. Download the evaluation and look inside the /examples/vbscript/ directory.

	Speed is a major concern when dealing with video which files are typically large and therefore the encoding process is very CPU intensive.

Information
	TVE, TVU and TVE SDK are optimized for Pentium 4 SSE2 so when running in a Pentium 4 machine it takes advantage of this optimization boosting the encoding speeds to nearly twice as fast than in other processors. Thread encoding priority can be changed in TVE SDK by using the EncodeAsyncPriority property.

Better Quality Encoding

Abstract:

Introduction

Video encoding quality depends on the encoding bitrate as well as the characteristics of the source video: videos with a lot of action will always be harder to compress than still videos (at the same bitrate). However it's often possible to increase quality by changing some settings from the default values included in the base Presets.

Information

Better quality encoding can be obtained by changing a number of settings:

Increasing bitrate in video (the VideoBitRate property) and audio (Audio MP3BitRate or AudioADPCMBits properties) naturally increases quality. Or lower the video frame size (VideoWidth/Height property) and/or the frame rate (VideoFrameRate property): this will lower the amount of actual data compressed, allowing better quality for the same bitrate. In most cases source video quality might be overkill for web Flash video: for example lowering the frame rate from 30 FPS to 20 or the frame image to 75% original size will produce better video quality at the same bitrate without significant quality loss.
Using VBR2 encoding will usually produce better results (VideoMethod property). Or if bandwidth is not an issue, encoding at Constant Quality (KQ) with better quantizer settings will produce perfect results.

The period for intra frames (complete frames) might be too small, wasting bandwidth. This can be changed in the VideoIntraFramePeriod

Introduction
	Turbine Video Uploader (TVU) uses English as its default language, but all user interface items are completely customizable. All the graphics, colors and even the language used for the menus and dialogs can be changed.

Solution
	Proceed as follows to translate the several user interface elements. Translating Menus and Message Dialogs Let's assume we want to translate TVU to Danish. To translate the application menus and dialogs proceed as follows: Unzip the attached file to the languages directory. Download and install poEdit which will allow you to edit the .po language file. Free download from: http://www.poedit.net/ Open encoder.po file with poEdit and translate all the strings to Danish. Save. Run TVU. If you are running from a Danish Windows it should automatically recognize your translation file. All other users (with non Danish Windows) should see the interface in English. Translating Graphical Elements All the graphical elements for the English interface are located inside the imgs\en\ directory. You should create a imgs\dk\ directory and copy there all the graphical elements which you want to translate to Danish.
